Lily Trotter (10/1) was a decisive winner of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle in the hands of Breen Kane.
The six-year-old mare by New Approach had been a maiden under all codes before this breakthrough success, although she was placed a few times on the level when with Ralph Beckett and was a fair second on her previous hurdles outing at Limerick.
She swept to the front two out and was quickly clear of her thirteen rivals, finishing five and a half lengths and a length in front of the placed horses Macho Mover (8/1) and Toms Courage (8/1).
The 11/4 favourite Golden Glen finished fourth.
A sixth winner of the season for absent winning trainer Eric McNamara (also owns the winner), it was a second success of the campaign for the winning rider who reported that it was his first victory for the Rathkeale, Co. Limerick handler.
One would imagine a visit to her local track over Christmas will be very likely for Lily Trotter, particularly as she’s finished in the first three in three of her previous four starts at Greenmount Park.
