Joseph O'Brien's tough task of wasting was mentioned on the Tubridy Show this morning on 2FM as the programme came from the Clonmel Park Hotel and featured his mother Annmarie speaking about Coolmore and Ballydoyle.
Well young O'Brien's efforts in the hot weather lately were rewarded when he gave the long-absent but well-backed Robin Hood (9/2 into 100/30) a dashing ride from the front to make all and hold on in the Spin 103.8 Handicap by three lengths. Rising Wind came home well to fill the runner-up spot but she never threatened Robin Hood.
Coming off a 549 day break, Robin Hood was the second winner on the evening carrying first-time blinkers, following on from Mayhem Freddie half-an-hour earlier.
Joseph said of his father Aidan’s charge: "He's genuine and he stays well." (GC & EM)
