Rachael Blackmore didn't let a broken nose keep her out of action for very long and after returning to the fray at Ballinrobe yesterday she was back on a winner courtesy of Balzac Turgot in the McHale Fusion 3 Plus Beginners Chase at the Mayo venue this evening. Rashaan won't be long waiting for his first chase success but on outing two over the larger obstacles he again had to play second fiddle, losing out this time by a length to the Gigginstown House Stud-owned and Henry de Bromhead-trained Balzac Turgot.
"I'm delighted with that and he got a great ride from Rachael," stated de Bromhead.
"He jumped brilliant and he was always a chaser in the making.
"Maybe that was a bit sharp for him round there but he handled it."
A.E. Lynch, rider of Glen Orchy Lad trained by John J Cullen, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and pulled up.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Midnight Escape trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ceide Fields (GB) trained by S.J.Mahon was found to have sustained trauma to his head and had blood on his left nostril as a result of a fall.
