Baba Boom continues on an upward curve and followed up a Limerick win just over a fortnight ago when again justifying favouritism in the Toals.com Bookmakers Handicap at Fairyhouse.
The well-backed evens favourite was patiently ridden by Ross Coakley and, after taking a while to get going, came home strongly on the stands’ side.
He asserted well inside the final furlong to ultimately beat Rocky Blue by three lengths, with Viscount Wilson a length further back in third.
Winning trainer Johnny Murtagh said, “He’s improving physically and has thrived since his last run. It was a bit more tactical today. Ross said it was a bit stop start and he thought when they quickened up he was in a bit of trouble.
“He probably wants a little more ease in the ground. He hit a ridge and he hung a little bit but he hit the line well. He looks like his future could be over jumps.”
