Artytype took the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden (Plus 10 Race) with authority under Ross Coakley. On outing number two the Roderic O'Connor colt triumphed at odds of 5/1 on the polytrack at Dundalk.
"He's a lovely horse. He's a big weak baby still," said winning trainer Johnny Murtagh, after the Ballyhane Stud-bred, and JP Murtagh Racing-owned juvenile had defeated favourite, Somebodytoldme (her saddle slipped forward), by two and a quarter lengths.
Artytype had been to the fore throughout before striking for home from a furlong and a half out.
"He ran very well at the Curragh (10th on August 9th) and I think he'll make a nice horse next year. He should improve a bit," added Murtagh.
"I'll see how he comes out of it but that's probably it for the year. He seemed to like that surface and I wouldn't be running him on soft."
