114/1 Galway double for Lavery

Sheila Lavery brought up a 114/1 double in the finale at the second stage of the Galway festival 2018 as Truffles sprung a 20/1 surprise under Robbie Colgan in The Caulfieldindustrial.com Handicap.
Earlier on the mark with Burning Question (Gary Carroll) in the three-year-old and up seven furlong maiden, here Truffles made the most of her bottom weight impost.
Runner-up Honor Oak (14/1 into 7/1) looked like she might deliver for her many followers for a time, but in the end she had to yield by three and a half lengths to the always up there Truffles.
"It wasn't easy from the draw she had and she got a lovely ride from Robbie," said Ms Lavery (1st double).
"I've been asking Robbie to ride on the Flat for a few years now and then we've had a quiet time so I'm so pleased for him.
"She's a home-bred out of a mare we bought from Juddmonte."
Colgan said himself: "She jumped and travelled and did everything great.
"It was just a matter of steering her."
The Stewards fined Mrs Denise Foster, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Merited, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Merited in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (iv)
G.P. Halpin, rider of Alans Pride trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
