He's a horse that I've always thought the world of. I actually brought him to the sales and no-one wanted to buy him. A cousin of mine won a point-to-point with him and to be honest I didn't pull him out too many times!. He's a grand horse and chasing is his game. He doesn't do an awful lot when he hits the front. He's a real professional and jumped super. He probably got there too soon but said he had to. He gave him a squeeze, he came alive and got there too soon. He's a horse that they will have a lot of fun with. He wasn't right last year. When he won in Tipperary he actually got a screw up into his foot and was on a heap of antibiotics and just wasn't right. He actually ran well at Navan on bottomless but I'd say he won't go on extreme ground. We'll see how he is when we get him home and go from there.

He went to Killarney and when he came home he was sick,. We gave him three or four weeks off. I gave him a small piece of work last week. I'd say he'll come on plenty for this run. He's not a bad horse and nice ground suits him. They're only kicking the top off it here. He'll probably go back over fences now.

Chasing was always going to be his job. It was straightforward and I couldn't be happier with him. At two minutes to 12 yesterday, I threw him in at Downpatrick on Friday but I wouldn't think he'll go. John Barry (amateur jockey) is a good friend of mine and would be mad to get back on him but he is heavy enough, so we'll have to try and find a low grade race from top weight!. He does a lot of work with him and as long as I have seen the horse, he has never made a mistake, between racing, schooling at home and point to points. Chasing is definitely his job.

It wasn't a surprise as he is a grand horse who is going the right way and won his point to point. He'll be a nice chaser next year and anything he does over hurdles will be a bonus. He is a bit lazy and runs behind the bridle but he does it easy enough. He'll have a break now and as long as the ground doesn't go too quick he could run again before the summer.
