This is like interviewing Gordon (Elliott)! - normally if I had two or three winners in the year that would be about the height of it and to have two in a day is beyond belief. I was hoping he might win and go up a few pounds to get into the Kim Muir at Cheltenham and Eoin can ride him. Eoin is a massive team member, is in every day and is a slave to work. He won the five year old maiden at Nenagh (point-to-point) earlier and shot up the road to be here on time to ride Se Mo Laoch.

He's a super horse. He's running every couple of weeks and is so consistent. He keeps your name up there,. All credit to Eoin, he's given him an unbelievable ride. He's maturing as a rider. He took his time when they got racing a bit early and he came home strongest of all then. I'm delighted for him and it's great for the yard. We have only a couple racing, really, and to have a horse so consistent like him makes it easy. I was looking at the National Trial back here and 118 got in last year. He won off 115 today so he just might get into that. I'd say that sort of trip will suit him. Everything is a bonus now. It's great and I can't say enough about him.

He was due it. He's been placed a lot over fences and has been ultra consistent,. I said to Derek that it looked like he needed a trip and he said he really picked up going to the last. He ran off 92 in Leopardstown last March and ran off 107 today. It was probably trainer error that he got beat off 92, he wasn't straight enough to be truthful. I thought it might be difficult off this mark but he's won well enough. The step up to three-and-a-quarter miles has probably helped him. Eoin (Mahon) has been riding him all along and he's gone point-to-pointing today. Thankfully he had a winner in the open at Borris House so hopefully he'll show up for work tomorrow!. Derek is a once in a generation rider. You don't have to tell him anything just hand him the reins. I'm based in Spancil Hill, I rent a yard off Noel Glynn. I'm a bio-chemist, I do that nine to five. I feed them in the morning before work and ride them out in the evening. It's a mad dash these days with the light fading. I've six or seven riding out and Eoin and myself get through them. Even if he hadn't won today I love it and it's all worth it.

Eoin Mahon is a savage help to me every day and comes in with a smile on his face, works hard and is never in a rush to leave. He’s a great lad and I’m delighted for him as much as myself and the owner Martin Morrissey. He’ll tip away over hurdles and fences. Every day he gives his running and you can’t ask for any more than that.
