Leah's Contessa
That was very good. I thought she might be doing a bit too much during the race, she didn’t settle very well but she still found plenty off it and it was a nice performance. I’d say she was just getting lonely in front at the last, she’s never jumped a hurdle in front on her own before. That’s my first winner for John (Breslin). I met him in Galway last year and he said he’d give me a couple of horses. She’s the only horse that I’ve ran for him. He bred it himself so fair play to him, he’s delighted. It’s nice to see a home-bred winning for him. She’s only a handy filly but she’s hardy. She stays well and jumps well so hopefully there is more to come from her.

That's About Right
His jumping wasn't brilliant the day he won his beginners chase here but is getting better and better. Tiernan was very good on him and he jumped very well with him - I keep saying his 7lb claim is invaluable to me. The horse has been very lucky as I was finding soft ground all summer for him and was poking along through but Thurles this winter has really suited him. . I'm not quite sure where we go next and I'll see if I can find a novice handicap chase somewhere - he needs good ground.

Marlpark
He has been disappointing up until now as we thought the world of him from the get-go. I bought him from Will Delaney as he is a half-brother to both Kilcarry Bridge and Kilashee (stablemates) and is out of a half-sister to Hear The Echo. He is a proper little horse and there's no reason he won't go forward now. Shane gave him a peach of a ride and really switched him off in front. He was running a huge race when falling at Fairyhouse - I'm not a huge fan of those new hurdles and I think he would have finished third then. What level this horse is at I'm not sure, but he'll probably go for a rated novice next.

Size Five
it wasn't a pretty watch and he gave us a scare but Oran thought they went awfully quick early on. He had intended to sit fifth or sixth but he didn't travel the best and the ground might have been too quick for him. He went on to do the job though and that's what you want. You'd think the handicapper was wrong by giving him 17lb for winning at Perth but looking at it today, he was probably right. I thought he had been harsh on him but at least he has come out and won again. Oran is in the yard all the time and is a top-class lad to ride. His instructions today were 'you know him better than me, so ride him the way you want!'

The Blaggard
He got his name because he is a little bit quirky. He's learning away and he's a nice horse going forward. It's nice to see the form of the Listowel race working out, but he still has a lot to learn. He's coming along nicely (physically). It’s nice because we invested in a lot of stores last year and two of them have won maidens this year. He was only a €2,000 store.
