The Stewards interviewed Mr A.H. Wells, rider, in relation to his apparent failure to pull up having bypassed the last hurdle. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he believed those behind him would pull up and he only realised they hadn't as he cantered home. In hindsight he admitted he should have taken a turn after bypassing the last and apologised for continuing on. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned the rider regarding his responsibilities under Rule 215. Owing to ground conditions, the Stewards granted permission for the third hurdle to be omitted from race one and two.
