Leaving the final bend, Shang Tang (IRE), placed third, became unbalanced and rolled firstly onto Debden Bank (GB), unplaced, and then onto De Good Man Luke (FR), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Shang Tang (IRE).
Following the race, James Davies reported that Walkonthinice (IRE), unplaced, lost its action and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding revealed it to be lame on its right fore.
