The Rubinator wins Wexford's opener
he was second to Fury Road in a bumper at Fairyhouse but has just had a few little niggly problems since and it looked a very good opportunity for him today. He made a little bit of a mistake at the second last but fought back and stayed going. He'll probably get a bit further in time but we'll keep him over two miles for the moment. He has been a funny horse to work with, so we'll just have to see how he is at home and pick out something for him then.
Minx Tiara scores for O'Brien & Flanagan
she was unlucky the first day in a point-to-point, so they boys (Fastey For Fun Syndicate) said we'll go to the track with her and have a bit of fun. I bought her from a neighbour of mine, Billy Cuddihy, and Double Windsor was bought off him too, so it's all working out. The few horses I have are running well now thank God. It keeps the thing going. She'll probably go for a handicap now or maybe a little novice. Sean said she was still green and she loves an ease in the ground. She was very green the first day over hurdles, she wasn't jumping as good and got detached but stayed on well.
Farrier Hynds scores with My Peggy
she has just been a filly that has taken time. We fancied her a bit at the start but just wee niggly things have held her up. She has just started to come together recently with a bit of age and maybe she'll pick up something else at this same level. She'll probably go for another handicap now if she is not sold. I train in Banbridge, Co Down and work as a farrier. I only have a few horses as a part-time job.
Redemption for Shawshank at Wexford
we don't know what happened him the last day, maybe it was the big screen that caught his eye. Sometimes the big screen can change and flash and maybe it was that. He is in no way cowardly and is a very good jumper. From doing nothing only jumping fences, he went over hurdles like he was a professional and I was delighted with how he hurdled the last day and he never missed a beat today.
Dinons maintains unbeaten chase record
he is a grand horse and knows how to win. He never does anything fancy, he just keeps winning and is a nice horse to have. Davy said he probably should have let him stride on but that's not a bad mare of Colin Bowe's (length and a half runner-up Victoria Bay) either. All you can do is win and he won. I think you could even step him right up to three miles, it will suit him better. Davy said he was nearly going as fast as he could for the first half of the race. We'll find another winners' race for him somewhere now.
Mooneys on the mark with King's War
I'm delighted with him, he has just been wrong for a good while but everything clicked today. I thought he might need to run today but he has done it well. To be fair we thought he'd need this run very badly because he has been off the track for sometime. We'll wait until tomorrow, see how he comes out of this race and plan it from there. Hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on us. Paddy (Mooney, father-in-law) has been a great help coming down to us since he gave his license in and everything has just gone well.
McNamara rides first chase winner in Wexford's last
he burst (blood vessels) two starts ago and ran no race in Downpatrick, maybe he didn't handle the track there. He is entered in Stratford on Monday and if didn't run well today he was going there.
