Gigginstown wins Fairyhouse opener
Well backed Solita wins for Nolan/Power
Fr Humphrey defies top weight for second win
all my horses as a rule need a run, so I'm delighted with the way he did that. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him. The further the better for him, and we'll see what's coming up in the next few weeks. It's lovely ground there today, and he'd probably not want real winter ground.
Squouateur wins for McManus & Elliott
he's done it well enough, although he'll probably have to improve a bit to step up into a novice hurdle. He did it nicely.
Falcon Crest gets Season 2 off to a flyer
this horse is quick and wants good ground, while the one that won at Naas (Chesterfieldavenue) is a different type and wants a dig and further. He jumps well especially over those (Easyfix Hurdles), and Barry (Geraghty) said that's a department you don't have to worry about. It's nice to have today over. Ideally I'd like to go for a winners-of-one but there are not that many coming up, and you nearly have to jump in the deep end. Down the line I would see him as a two-mile chaser.
Pace-setting Tiger gets Cooper a 1st Weld win
Sizing Scorpion gets off the mark
he was very backward when we first got him, and Alan (Potts, owner) said to leave him off for a year. He's really matured and is a much better horse now. Anything over hurdles is a bonus looking ahead over fences. We'll try to find something similar and I'd prefer to get more experience over hurdles and go chasing next year.
Well backed Misdflight wins Fairyhouse finale
it was nice to get that after Friday, and he's probably a chaser down the road. He's a lovely big horse. I'd say greenness beat him on Friday but he's there when you need him. He got 6lb for Friday so we nearly had to run him, and he'll get a few weeks off now. That's as quick as he'd want. This horse was sick last year, and fair play to the lads (Village Bloodstock Partnership) as they were very patient.
