Going - Yielding. Fine
Georgeta easily lands Gowran Park opener
It's grand to get that out of the way, she was entitled to do that on her last run. We dropped her back to seven and she can go either seven or a mile, she has enough pace for seven and she stuck it out well on that ground. She's very genuine, we'll take her home and make a plan now.
Inchturk stays on best for Whelan and Halford
He's very genuine. I was delighted with him here the last day, he only tired late on, and he had come on well in his home work. I'm not saying we were expecting to beat Noel's horse but I thought we'd be a lot closer to him. He's a lovely straight forward horse with a great temperament. That trip suits him well and he might go further in time. He's a lovely horse to have, a good solid horse. We'll see what the handicapper does with him and go from there. It's nice to get a maiden win under his belt. I was sort of tempted, off his handicap mark, to go for a handicap but just with the way he had improved I thought we'd have one more go at a maiden.
Yaxeni too strong for rivals in Vintage Tipple Stakes
We're absolutely delighted with that filly. She was kept in training to win her stakes race, she was placed numerous times last year. That ground is slow but yet it's on the quick side for her. We'll talk to the manager Ed Sackville but I'm sure she'll have a break now as the ground is going to dry up and she'll probably come back for an autumn campaign. The deeper the better for her and there is a big race in her. She's gutsy and she sickens horses on heavy ground as she loves it. The pressure is off with the stakes race in the bag and we'll enjoy her.
Rumbles Of Thunder brings up Keane treble in McCalmont Stakes
She's a nice filly. She came from France in December and I'd say she was only ready to run in the Noblesse. She was a little bit fresh as we were just trying to strengthen her and get her there. I was hoping she'd do something like that today. That seemed to go well over that trip. Colin said she'd be suited by a better race. We'll find a Group 3 for her now and see if we can keep progressing. She's very uncomplicated, easy to train and has a lovely attitude.
One For Bobby makes winning debut at 33/1
That was a nice surprise. She's a big backward filly and we took our time with her, she hadn't come in her coat early in the season. I thought she'd come here today and learn a lot and maybe be ready next time. Ben said she didn't have a clue what was happening halfway through the race but when he gave her a click she quickened up really well. She's by Frankel out of a good mare so she probably has a chance of being a stakes filly. It was a very competitive maiden and coming here I would have been happy if she had stayed on nicely to be fourth or fifth so that was a nice surprise. They are owner/breeders so it's very much about seeing if we can get a bit of black-type now.
Urban Oasis lands dramatic apprentice handicap
No I didn't but I was told that it favours the near side here. It's grand that he won it as he was a bit unlucky the last day when things didn't work out. He stuck at it well today and the handicapper can't be too hard on him. We'll have a bit more fun with him.
Maccliff shows right attitude where it matters most
My biggest worry today was her actually going to the start and you probably saw her antics there. It was a bonus straight away that we got her to go down. Siobhan did a great job there and if she ever deserved to win one she deserved that one. All credit to her and we owe her one. It's her first turf win, she hadn't even been placed up to now on turf, so we are delighted. My plan was to pop her out to the field for a while and come back for the all-weather after a long summer break but we might change that plan now. She enjoyed that.
Hanbags N Gladrags swoops late to land finale
I'm delighted for Ciara and John who are great supporters of mine. They bred this filly so it's great for them. John hasn't been well so it will be a big lift for him. She was always a talented filly but she had a few niggles last year and fair play to them they persevered with her and she's paying them back now. She loves that ground, it's beautiful ground and probably the deader side of yielding which is ideal for her being by Fast Company. She's getting her act together now and I think she'll repay them well, she's a lovely genuine filly. I love Fast Companys, we've had a bit of luck with them, and she's very game.
