Vega strikes late in tight finish
Robbie said he was a little bit on top of his head over seven on that ground. A mile on that ground would be perfect. He’s a real nice colt but is still not anywhere near the finished article. He has some smart entries (Irish 2,000 Guineas) but I won’t lose the run of myself and we’ll sit down and decide where to go. I think like a lot of Lope De Vega’s he does need a bit of ease in the ground and that would be paramount. He’s a gorgeous, straight forward colt and you can do anything with him.
Love prevails for Coen and Murtagh
He’s learning all the time and had a nice run at Navan. Ben said when he hit the front today he still had a little look around. He’s a nice horse and is coming along slowly. It would be nice to give him a little break between his races and he probably appreciated the better ground today. I’d say he’d definitely get another furlong or two.

McCullagh Times it well on Piece
She fell out of the gates in Tipperary and her chance was gone. Scott said she ran very green again today, hung left and hung right, but he was confident enough on her. He’s worth 10lb in these apprentice races because he’s so strong. We had her in at Sligo last Sunday but the ground went soft and she had a wide draw. Hopefully there is another handicap in her - she’s a nice filly.
Patience rewarded with Sideways
She did that nicely and it was a good while coming. She always showed ability so we persevered with her and hopefully it will pay off now. I thought she was working very well the last couple of weeks. She’s a bigger, stronger mare and did things right today. She could go for something similar in Killarney.
Curran gets the Money in finale
It’s great to see that filly getting a bit of luck today and I’m delighted for Ger (O’Leary, owner). I thought she was an unlucky loser (when third) in Cork the last day. Dean gave her a great ride and everything went to plan. There are plenty of options for her once there is a little ease in the ground.
