Empire ready to do even more
He wears ear-plugs as he can be a bit hard on himself and all he can do is improve from that. He was plenty green in front and he'll learn a lot. He'll go for a winners somewhere now. His pedigree suggests he wants three miles. He's a big horse and the bit of time off crowned him . he had a bit of a leg. I'd imagine he'll stay over hurdles this year.
Rightdownthemiddle for the layers
He's been knocking on the door and the last day he flattened the second last which exaggerated the distance he was beaten by (twenty two lengths off King Shabra who boosted that form at Naas on Monday). He's an out and out three mile horse and chasing will be his game. His owner, John Higgins is from Limerick and unfortunately he's not that well at the moment and couldn't travel today.
The Mrs is in good order
Shanahan the woman to Fix Jim
He's been threatening that for a while but he's been wrong all along. All credit must go to Kitty Shanahan who has done a lot of work on him . he's had a lot of muscle problems. Hopefully he'll stay right now. I thought he might be placed today and then go on and win his beginners.
Great start from Morning over the big ones
He only had one racecourse school and that was when he hacked around at Tipperary, so there should be plenty of improvement there. He's always been a natural leaper and he's a horse that'll never let you down. Ruby said to me to make sure that we give him plenty of experience and he'll definitely run somewhere before Christmas. I'll sit down with the owner (Steve Parkin) and we'll make a plan. Davy (Condon) schooled him at Tipperary so I'm sorry that he missed this but he'll be back (broke his leg at Cork recently). Myself and Ruby do go back a long way anyway. I have to thank Joe Foley (Ballyhane Stud) for introducing me to Steve (Parkin) and he's a great man to train for.
Linehan off the mark on Track
Foxy rightly gets it in steward's room
It's great that she's come back to form as she was off for a year and a bit. Win lose or draw she'll go for the Listed Mares Bumper at Navan and then go hurdling.
