Sweet win for Butterscotch in Naas opener
Polly follows-up on Ayr success
She's progressed nicely from Ayr. I knew she was in great form but I was very worried when I saw the tacky ground. She ran well last year at the Curragh with cut in the ground so we let her take her chance. I told Andrew not to hit the front until the final furlong but they all fell away a bit. She's fresh and well and hopefully she can compete at a higher grade.
Xionghu gets off the mark under Foley
He's a very tall horse, and is still very babyish and raw. We've been patient and he's a work in progress. We put the hood on as he tends to be a bit keen. It was not really the plan to make the running but he stuck at it well. He's very genuine and will get better with racing.
Mcgregornator gets second win on the board
He's a good, tough, honest horse and that type of ground and trip are suitable. Turning in he looked the first horse beaten but he kept on responding. He's in again on Sunday and, if he eats up, we will consider it in the morning.
Halford & Foley on double Street
She's a lovely big scopey filly, and is very genuine and stays well. I got a bit worried when the ground went soft at Ballinrobe (non-runner there) last night, and we had the option of coming here. I'm delighted for the owners (John Heffernan and Patrick Hyland) who are neighbours of mine and have been very patient. It's great when you have a filly that has the heart to do it - it means everything.
