Victory for Triumph winner
I was very happy with her jumping. I think it's the first time she's ever jumped without making a mistake so the cheekpieces were a big help to her. She still jumped a little tall. I think she needed the race, especially the way she finished but she did go a fast gallop and was probably tying up a little bit at the end. I'd imagine she'll go for the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham, that's the plan.
Walnut Beach registers first success
he did it very well. He had two nice runs over hurdles, he wasn't beaten far on his first start in Roscommon and was just touched off last time. He was very good there.
Mullins & Townend complete Punchestown doubles
the improvement from the last day was good. He just doesn't have much respect for hurdles and probably wants a fence. We'll maybe look at the Albert Bartlett for him but he'd want to jump a lot better than he did there. He'd be an outsider for that but I think he'd acquit himself well. He was staying on the whole way to the end and that little circuit (on the inside course) there wouldn't suit him, I think he'd be way better again on a bigger track in a more competitive race. I'll have a word with the owners and see what they want to do, otherwise we might have a program for him at home.
My Immortal scores for Connell & Flanagan
the ground was too quick for him in Listowel the last time and he got jarred up. That's more his thing today, winter ground and a trip. There is a handicap hurdle for him in Fairyhouse, a 2m6f 0-140. He could run away during the summer if he got nice ground and he'll make into a nice chaser.
Martha Divine continues Nolan's good run
we were disappointed with her in the bumper the first day and the last day she just didn't jump well at all. I was delighted where she finished given the way she jumped. She was a different mare today, she winged hurdles and Sean gave her a lovely ride. I thought she was beaten coming to the second last as the second horse (Emily Roebling) travelled better but he had enough mare to hold the rail and she rallied then. I'd say she'll stay all day.
Well backed The Niffler scores for O'Connells
we were hoping he'd run well today, we were happy enough with his mark and we got it right anyway. He ran well last time and was running well in Clonmel as well when Eoin got unseated on him. He was just unlucky that day. He'll be alright going forward and I'd say he'll go through anything and will go on nice ground too. Hopefully he'll keep progressing and he'll run again in three or four weeks time. He's still only five so won't over-face him. I've nothing picked out and we'll see where we end up.
Indie Belle wins in unfortunate circumstances
she has been consistent in that grade and was going to get her chance at some stage. I thought she mightn't like the ground but Darragh said she loved it. We'll look for something else at the same level. If she stays in that grade she has a chance but if she goes out of that grade she might struggle a bit.
'Smart' newcomer lands bumper for Elliott & Codd
Joey Logan bought him at the sales last year and he's a lovely horse. He has a big future and I think he was only getting going at the line. I'd imagine that he's one that Gordon might aim at the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. He's booked his ticket now and he could run there. He's been a smart horse all along.
