Imagine If wins opener for Lyons & Keane
it was closer than we would have liked but he got it done. He hung and he has problems in his knees so couldn’t have it soft enough. When he has conditions in his favour we think he could be very smart. The reason you haven’t seen him (during the summer months) is because his knees are sore and open. We hoped to win last Sunday (second at Naas) and put him away but to come back and do that, ‘A’ was a bit quick and ‘B’ we were asking a lot of the knees. You could see him hanging and it’s not through badness, it’s just through immaturity and pain. Hopefully we’ll get everything settled down and I’d say he could grow into a very smart horse but he’ll need soft ground.
Smullen has first winner for Midgley at Navan
it worked out perfectly and Paul was confident of a good run from him and he handled the ground well. He (Midgley) just said not to get to the front too soon and I probably got there a shade sooner than ideal but he was travelling so well that it lured me into thinking he was going to win easy. He’s a grand horse and he got to the line well in fairness to him and to be fair to Paul he does well with those sprinters. I think from early in the week Paul was always intending on coming here and my agent (Kevin O’Ryan) was on the ball.
'Troytown Chase horse' wins Navan sprint
he didn’t enjoy coming down the hill and got a bit unbalanced with me. As soon as he hit the rising ground I could feel him pick up again and he got to the line well. Paul (Midgley) said he’d handle the ground very well and he was confident of a big run. To be fair to him he targeted two races and he nailed both of them.
Ballydoyle's Perfect Storm gains maiden win
Song Of The Sky wins for Murphy/McDonogh
she was dropping back from a mile-and-a-half to a mile and travelled quite easily. She seemed to like the ground and stayed going well. She’s grand and might win again and John’s horses are running well.
Ceol Na Nog returns to winning ways
he likes Navan and has won three times here now. She could go to Leopardstown and then I’ll have to find out how to mate her.
Cheltenham regular gives Smullen a treble
it was never in doubt!. I wanted to make plenty of use of him as he gets that trip (1m5f) well. He improved from his last run and was always up to winning a maiden like that. He was probably getting a little bit lonely in front but to be fair he stuck at it well and stamina is his forte. He’ll be a grand dual purpose horse for the winter and the softer the ground the better he’ll be.
