Dreaming delivers in Tramore's opener
she has loads of ability but just decides when and when not to do it. I haven't spoken to Ger (Gubbins, owner) yet but after this, I think we will just run her in better company, with smaller fields from now on. Off her work at home you'd be saying she should be rated 120 something, but then she'd come racing and wouldn't want to know. When she won in Wexford we thought we have a good one and then she finished fourth in a Listed race at Galway, but it was only backwards and backwards she went.
First fences win for The Friday Man
C'est Rien ends a long losing run
she was third and fourth a few times but just got worse and worse over hurdles so I was in trouble with her and didn't know where to go. Danny (Mullins) had said, after riding her a year ago, to run her in one of those chases around the likes of Tramore, so he was right! . We tried everything bar blinkers and that was the next thing, if she didn't do it today. She was very genuine today though and I couldn't believe how well she jumped. She'll go for something similar now. I'd said she'll come back here anyway, that's the plan. Is Tramore on again next week?!
Maiden mares give Tom Mullins a Tramore double
Kimy had the cheekpieces on today but I don't know whether they made the difference as she was coming along well. She had a lot of weight in Ballinrobe the last day and that was a good run. She never scopes clean, that's her problem but had nicer ground today and I knew she was getting better. She only needed to improve a little bit to win this race. Everything went sweet for Danny, there was no problems. She'll go to the Lartigue at Listowel but will be out of the handicap if Nurburgring (Galway Hurdle winner) runs. We'll stick her in it anyway and she where she is.
Doyle gets back on track with Tramore winner
I was wiped out with a virus all winter, but the horses are healthy again. I haven't had a winner since last October, that's how bad it has been. Hopefully that's all gone now and they've been running well over the summer. We've some nice horses in for the winter and it's good to get back on track today and I'm really happy for her local owners (Sooner Or Later Syndicate). I had been getting her ready for Galway when she burst a blood vessel at home, so had to rejig things. She is tiny, only about 15.2hh, but always runs a great race here. I spotted this rescheduled meeting and said I'd start her back here and hoped that she wouldn't bleed. She is not a bleeder though and it was just a bump in the road. It was good to see her finishing so well today.
Dempsey's Getaway filly scores maiden success
she is well-bred and the step-up in trip to 2m5f suited her. She is only four, is a grand filly and we won't be in any great rush with her. We were hoping she'd run well, she handled the ground well and is a nice mover. Her owner David L'Estrange is a great supporter of ours.
Trainer Maxwell records first jumps winner
Alison and Calum are lovely people and are neighbours of mine. I broke the filly for them as a three-year-old and they left her with me all along. It's nice to finally repay them with a winner.
