Vormir pleases owner and favourite backers in Naas opener
Mathematics is what got it today with the Oxx horse from Tipperary. We dropped him back as he was always doing too much. There is not much of him. He’s after winning a Plus 10 bonus and he only cost 12, and he’s won another 6 there so the owner is happy.
Deidra has the know how and it shows
She’s had a few nice entries including the Moyglare and has just taken a while to come to hand. She’s a big filly that we bought at the Breeze Ups and has always worked like a good filly but has taken all her runs to get her straight. That experience stood to her today,. I knew at halfway that she wasn’t travelling that well. She hated the ground and Leigh confirmed that as she wants a bit of cut in it. She’s genuine, has a bit of class and she just got through it today. I think she can keep improving and maybe get a bit of black type. She bumped into one the last day (Nurse Barbara) and has improved again from that to today. I think going seven or a mile next spring she could be a nice filly.
Eloy for sale after bringing barrier trial form to the track
He showed us from day one that he was a nice horse, and he came here for a barrier trial and won that easy. He was beating everything we had at home, and if he was beaten we would have been disappointed,. The boys (Frankie and Brian Duffy, owner/breeders) would like to sell if they could as they have the half-sister Mean Fomhair that won in Roscommon which they can keep as a broodmare. They lost the dam last year with colic. I’d say he wouldn’t want it any faster than it was today, and he’d probably like a little print in the ground. Six would be a little sharp for him, and he’d be better over seven.
Double up as Keane edges on in title race
When I saw where he was drawn I said to Colin to take his time and give him a chance. I’d say he’s quite a good horse but he’s weak and is going to improve a lot,. He’s always shown us a lot at home but even today walking around before the race you’d know looking at him that he’s still just a shell. Whether he was drawn out there or not I was going to tell him to take his time but I said to Derville (wife and owner) I didn’t think he was going to take that much time! He was nearly last turning in. He ran well before except at the Curragh where he hated the ground. I’d say he wants real fast ground. He’s the most beautiful mover you ever seen, and he’s eligible for the Foran race as well. I entered eight in it (Foran Series Final) this morning.
O'Brien strikes back on Fancy Blue
Anything she does this year is a bonus and I think she’ll be a lovely middle-distance filly next year. There is plenty of improvement in her fitness wise as well. She had a little blow today so I think she will improve for that,.
Valeria Messalina another advert for the barrier trials
She won a barrier trial here, and is very like (half-brother) Pincheck as she really wants it. She puts her head down and tries,. She’s a smashing big filly and we’ll see how we get on from here. I’d say she’ll run again this year. She knew where she was and she knew where the winning post was.
Danielles Diamond shines brightly at Naas
Sheridan impresses Mullins on Not Now Zeb
He didn’t run too bad in Navan the last day. He’s a free little horse and Joey got on so well with Nam who is also free that I said I’d give him a go on this fella as well,. He just gave him his head a bit early on and let him roll rather than fight him. The chap obviously has talent to settle a horse and has great confidence in himself.
