J.P.'s Espoir makes winning Irish debut
he's a grand little horse. He's not that big but he jumps brilliant and he was fit and ready for today. Obviously the winners had their penalties and we had a little allowance but he's done it well. We'll take our time with him and I couldn't see him going to Down Royal (in early November).
Geraghty wins on Champion candidate
he's a nice horse and we'll have to see where we go from here but he has a nice engine. We'll see where the lads want to go but he's going to have to improve a lot to be thinking about going that (Champion Hurdle) way. Once he's ok in the morning that's the most important thing and Barry said he could jump a fence.
Elliott doubles up with maiden hurdle winner
he's a nice big horse and a chaser for the future. He'll stay over hurdles this season.
Pearl gains compensation after F'house fail
he was a bit unlucky the last day and with the 3lb rise we thought he might still be able to win. The only worry I had was it was coming a bit soon after Fairyhouse but I ran him because there wasn't anything for him for the next three or four weeks. He had a fracture last year and it was very hard to keep him sound and he's a real handicapper sort of horse as he just does enough. He gets himself there and then you have to ask him to do a bit more.
Champion Hurdle-third wins on chase debut
Davy gave him a super ride and we can breathe a sigh of relief. It's what you hope he would go out and do and he's done that and I'm delighted. He'd been schooling really well but until you see it on the track you are always a bit anxious but he looked great there. He's clever, and he could come back here for the Grade 2 (Craddockstown Novice on November 19). We'll see what everyone wants to do but that would look a nice race for him. He's always worked really well but physically he's probably filled out more, and he ran a bit heavier here today.
The 'Sizing' network wins again
it took him a while but he's found the winning way and Robert said he jumped brilliantly. He'll go on that ground but I don't think he's a real heavy ground horse. Robert wants to get him into the Topham next year and he feels that's the race for him. He might go to Cheltenham for a race or Aintree but we’ll have to see. He's still a novice so he has that option as well. I think he could stay for ever, it looks like he just gallops and jumps and Robert said he was always going comfortably.
Doyle's newcomer provides rider with first win
Sean (18) is a good kid to ride. He joined me only two or three months ago, and that's just his second ride on the track. she went well in a schooling race a few weeks ago and has a big old engine. She is one of our nicer ones, and could go for the Listed mares bumper at Navan.
