Local mare Posh Frock keeps Hunt at bay
I bought her out of Jessica Harrington's and she has had her problems. She had a wind problem and she got her palate done recently. She had good form from before and she was just eight lengths behind Apache Stronghold. We will probably look for a handicap at Galway for her and that was her ground today.
She Be Fine sure is that
On her run at Clonmel (fell at the last when closing) I thought she had a right chance and it was just a matter of getting her confidence back. She is out of a half-sister to Beef Or Salmon and she is a nice broodmare in the making.
Shield weighs in light and loses Wexford's 3rd
1st double for Byrne at odds of 209/1
He is a quirky little fella with plenty of ability. We've tried everything with him, blinkers, cheekpieces, earplugs, everything, but he obviously appreciates that bit of ground. We thought he was pigging it but he didn't pig it today. He loved it out there and it's great to have my first double at my home track. We'll keep him on the go now and he will jump a fence, he has a nice mark at that game. Eddie Keating (recently on the mark at Tramore) is the only lad I have riding out as I only have four in at the moment. He is a very good chap.
Bucket back to get the job done a year on
He was unlucky last year. That race suited him well as it was for horses rated 109 or less over hurdles. The way he settles he will get further. He loves Dundalk but he also won a point-to-point on his first ever start.
Power generates big praise
He got a marvellous ride from Robert Power. He is certainly a chap that I think is by no means at the end of his career. I just thought he was very good on him. If you can help him early on it's the thing to do because he is a horse that needed to get his confidence back over fences.
Naoise's win no surprise to Nolan
That is my third winner and I thought she had a good chance here today. She ran a cracker the last day coming back from over a year off and she came on a ton for that run. The better the ground the better she will be but she will also handle soft. I have four in training at the moment,.
