Third time lucky for Mr Escobar
on every run he has improved and I think he will keep improving again from today as he was a lot straighter in the straight. He idled but got going again towards the line and afterwards I couldn't pull him up. He's a nice, big jumping type that will keep improving with racing. Hopefully he'll keep improving away.
Objection fails against Coogan's Company
we were very happy with him when he won in Fairyhouse but the handicapper put him up 11lb and it nailed him to the cross. I think he was about 5lb wrong today but with Gearoid (Brouder) claiming 5lb, it left him near to a winning mark again. He has won around here before, he had a recent run over hurdles and hopefully he will go on hurdling now. He is a good old money spinner and that's three he has won now.
Lee bridges 11-year gap between Halford winners
Ronan (Whelan, stable jockey) is on holidays in Australia and I'm delighted to use Billy, who reminded me that it is a long time since he rode a horse for me! He got there good and early on her and she did it nicely. she has a lovely pedigree and her dam (Golden Pearl) won over six furlongs for us first time out. She's a bit too keen and hard on herself and, like her mother, she thought she was quicker than she was!. She has been settling better this season and we thought she was worth a step up in trip. Learning to settle has been the key to her and she is genuine. We'll probably keep going and see can we win another one or two.
Iva Feeling notches second success
we thought an awful lot of her early on in her career, she won on her second time out around here but has had niggly problems. She is 17.1hh and just took plenty of time. She has been consistent lately and Jake knows her well. He gave her a great ride the last day and it worked out lovely, as Mullacash Buzz went off in front and she was in a lovely position. It looks like she isn't doing much but when he woke her up, she lengthened away well. She got lonely but the line came in time. She's a six-year-old and has a pedigree so maybe it is time to think about covering her. we have plenty of young horses in, but won't be too busy up here. Hopefully the young horses work out for us and I'm delighted to get that winner as it was needed.
Christmas break benefits Clark's Kuwait
he's pretty straightforward and I think the trick was he got a holiday over Christmas. The last day he probably just didn't fire, we freshened him up and planned for this a few weeks in advance. He's tough to pass and when we are working him, he likes to be in front. The other day I was very impressed with him in his work and thought he was in great order. He has won twice here and loves it.
First-time blinkered Betrayed scores fourth success
the first-time blinkers helped, she's very keen and Robert just tried to keep a hold of her as best he could. She's as sweet as anything and has been tipping down the local beach. The more running she gets, the better she is getting. She held on well and I'm delighted with her.
'Onwards and upwards' for Browne's successful colt
he (Stormy Entry) improved for the extra furlong. He ran a little bit differently tonight, a bit keen. I suppose being his second run, he was probably smarter and wiser. I just thought he might have settled a bit better. The fancied horses were well behind and there was a bit of chat about the second horse (Miami Thunder), but the ones with form were well back. It is onwards and upwards with him.
