Captain on top when it matters
They went a good pace and his jumping kept him in it. He quickened up, but really he's crying out for two and a half miles. Chasing will be his game but we felt this was too nice a prize to miss out on. He'll go chasing now,.
Orgilgo a juvenile hurdler of substance
It was very touch and go whether we let him go on the ground. We waited until Mark rode in the first to make a final decision. The ground was fine but he'd be better with a bit of an ease. He won well going away and he's a brilliant jumper when he gets it right. That run will bring him on a tonne and he was only getting going at the end. We might go for the Grade 3 at Fairyhouse and if we go for that we'll probably give him a bit of a break after that. We'd like to give him a break as he's been on the go for a while. Gelding him has really made a man of him. He's really filled out all over. A lot of the family improve with time and he's a half brother to Third Intention (a Grade 2 hurdles winner cross-channel) so he's got a lot going for him. The owner, Derek Kierans (has 2-time winning juvenile hurdler Lindenhurst with McConnell as well) has a number of pubs in Manhattan and he's been a great supporter of mine. It's nice to have a good horse for him.
Apache gets job done at Punchestown
He's a very good jumper at home but Davy said he made a mistake at the first which just frightened him a bit. He's a nice horse and hopefully he'll go on from here. Because of the way the weather has been I thought he'd need it and he wouldn't have run without getting that rain this morning. He'll come on a tonne from that . both in terms of fitness and his jumping experience.
King Of Oriel dominant at Punchestown
Davy excelled on him. He's come up to me a few times to school him and was up with me on Monday to school him again. He certainly rode him with aplomb. He jumped like an experienced handicapper which he definitely is not.

2 for Cooper as King lands a punt
He's been a very disappointing horse overall although he's now won three times here. He looked a good horse when he won his bumper here and he then dead-heated with Allure Of Illusion (when that one went off at 1/5). We train him from the field and he came here fresh off a mark of 102. It probably suits him best being fresh,.
Nice finish for Gigginstown/Elliott and Russell
Davy said he was quick from fence to fence and he had a grand school around. He said that he was looking around him and not doing a whole lot. He's not a bad type and we have more novice chasers to look forward to for Gigginstown now,.
