Fiveforthree back with a bang
Dad said that he hopes he'll come back sound and that he'll go for the World Hurdle.
Police makes it look easy
Willie was talking about the Coral Cup with him and though a performance like that might put him out of it, it's still an option. The other option would be to stay at home with him as he's a chaser for next year though we'll try to win another hurdle with him first as that was only his fifth start on the racecourse. He is potentially a very smart sort over fences.
Fortuna too strong for JP's pair
If you go back to his Leopardstown run he'd have a chance (fourth there on his debut). He had two bad runs since though and the last day I couldn't find anything wrong with him (pulled up at Cork 65 days back) but on his previous run to that we found mucus. He's a nice horse and he should be better on better ground.
Noel Browne pops up at Punchestown
That's a pleasant surprise. It's been one thing and another with him. He's not been right and he's a horse that's had a lot of respiratory problems. He was bang on today though.
Avondhu Lady makes it 2 for Cooper
She did well in point-to-points last year and she needed her first couple of runs on the racecourse proper to get her here today. She is very tough and genuine and she'll be kept to mares company. Really she wants three miles as stamina is her forte. The ground made up for the distance (2m 4f) there as it was a stamina test. I'm delighted for the Flynn brothers who own her. They are great supporters of mine, they have the Avondhu Bar in Fermoy, hence the name of the mare. Richard Flynn is the name on the racecard, his brother is Thomas.
Martin doesn't pick up in time under Carberry
That was his third handicap and we thought he'd win one some day, when exactly we didn't know. He ran a nice race at Navan last time (6th there) and the boys backed him each-way today.
The Kielys strike in the bumper
I always liked him and I was hoping the ground wouldn't be too soft . he went through it well. This is a nice horse but he'll take another year. He is by a very up and coming stallion (Catcher In The Rye). I have three or four of them . Frawley and Oneeightofamile are two of them.
