he is a funny horse, he didn't travelled really. He travelled away early on, but half way down the back I was flat out and I gave him a slap - he was lairy enough when he got to the front.

I thought it was the right outcome. If it was a 'neck' fair enough but he got two good bumps and was taken off his line and was only beaten a short-head. It took him a long time to learn how to settle but he will drop in now and you can ride him as you like. He might run at Gowran on Saturday in a 0-102 handicap hurdle.

that's his third run in quick succession and he is coming out of his races very well. This horse is a tricky customer but it's great he finally got his head in front.

Croke trains first Irish winner

this is my first winner in Ireland and Tony McCoy won on her in England. I just want to say a big thanks to her owner Maurice Sheehy who is a good supporter of mine. I have three or four for the track and a few point-to-pointers for next year. She (My Betty) was always entitled to win a beginners, she had been knocking on the door against good horses, and she deserved that today. She will probably have a little break now for a couple of weeks. We will see how she is then and go back to the drawing board with her.

Lilly The Lioness wins for in-form O'Connell

she couldn't have done it any better and likes going left-handed. Normally she is mad keen and full of running but today Brian said she was behind the bridle the whole way. If she can do that the whole time I think it'll be a massive bonus for her as she is probably her own worst enemy (racing keenly). She is stronger this year and hopefully that will make her better and will go to Galway again and she could take in a flat race too.
