Cawley makes a good start on Derinlaur
We needed patience as he was off for 2 years. He obviously likes this track though as he won a bumper here by fifteen lengths. We'll see how he is, we've no plans and we'll take every day as it comes. He has to go left-handed as he leans a bit to the left. He has had leg trouble and as mine have been running bad that is a bit of a relief.
Frisco sees it out best
That was a good race I'd say and I'm delighted with him as he showed a lot of guts. The only hurdle he missed was the last where he landed flat-footed. He doesn't seem to mind that ground and he had run well at Galway over two miles first time back. He should be a nice novice hurdler over a trip and we'll look for something over two and a half miles for him now.
Market wrong as Article shows his class
I'm pleased for one of those (a Definite Article) that he went on the ground. He quickened up really well and he might have another run before being put away until the spring. He is progressing and looks to be going the right way. Andrew (McNamara) said the ground felt different riding him than it did on Shot From The Hip (2nd in the previous race). He is a nice horse, he jumps well and even over-jumped the last. He is in the Royal Bond (at Fairyhouse on November 29th).
Holly back on top with Burnswood
He has been frustrating as he has always had plenty of ability. It's nice to get his head in front and hopefully that will give him a bit of confidence. Given his size hopefully he'll go on and do a job over fences.
Lady toughest in Naas mud
She is a tough girl and she needs a distance. It was too quick for her at Limerick last time. She was placed earlier in the year on good ground but I put her away as I knew she needed it soft. She is getting stronger and hopefully she'll pick up another couple before she goes chasing. Hopefully the handicapper will look after us now.
'Red' on the mark again with Vics
He's a grand horse. He won a point-to-point and got beaten a short head in another. He just keeps galloping and needs to be fresh. He had a few problems with ulcers. Mark said to try him in a winners bumper and we'll see how he is after this.
