Waitnsee provides Ryan yard with welcome boost
She's a real class filly,. She's thriving on her racing - she's grubbing better now. I couldn't get her to eat but since she started running she's thriving on it. She'll go to Listowel now where she should have a real chance in the good novice hurdle. I often had ones that you'd be hoping would go all the way but this is real proper one. It's a nice boost after losing Draycott Place (at Killarney on Friday night). I have the three of them buried together in Fairyhill - Draycott Place, Kylecrue and Foildubh. They won nearly a million between them. It's nice to have this one to look forward to as she's a potential star.
Bothar battles to deny Nibblers
He's a great little horse - that's the second tight photo he's after getting through,. The rain came in time as he's a winter horse. He got a little break over the summer - he got a couple of weeks out in the field. He's only a small little horse and he's better fresh. We'll see how he is now - he might go to Listowel. We won't be over hard on him - he's only a bit of a horse. We'll see what the handicapper does - it'll be tougher for him now. He's after winning three anyway so we're happy enough!
Jacky makes plenty Happy after easy win
We were a bit worried about the ground to be honest,. I thought it might be gone for him but he's a hardy little lad. He got through it alright - he wouldn't be in love with it but he's just tough. He got boxed in on Friday evening and just got no run. He finished out his race real well. After seeing that we said we'd go again as he bounced out of it so well. I'm delighted for the lads (the owners) - they'll enjoy it!. We might look at Listowel but it's just grand to get him over the line.
Northern Emperor in 20/1 surprise
That was his (Adam Short) first ride for me and he rode an intelligent race,. I was a little bit disappointed with the other lad (Spittal Field). I expected more from him. That's the way it goes though and I'm just happy to get the win.
Moon Over Germany leads home de Bromhead 1, 2
Ozzie's leads the Way on first start over fences
That was mighty on his first start over fences,. All the family are chasers so hopefully he'll improve a bit for fences. Them races are great (for horses rated 116 or less over hurdles). He's a 112 hurdler I think. I was going to pull him out this morning because of the ground, to go to Bellewstown for a handicap hurdle on good ground. Having thought about it though if he were to win another hurdle he couldn't run in today's race. I just said now was the time to go for a chase when he was down there at 112, and we'll see what the handicapper does now. He could go for one of those rated novices. Andrew gave him a good education - he'll learn a lot from today. It's great for Tim (Conroy, owner/breeder). He hasn't been racing all summer - his wife hasn't been well. He's at home doing all the jobs on his own. Tim has been a loyal patron since I started training. This fella's dam (Stashdeaway) was very good for Michael O'Brien. She was a black-type mare from the family of Glebe Lad who won a National.
Package to the Rescue for Mullins & McGuinness
I wasn't worried about the change of ground for her - I knew that wasn't going to be an interference, more than saying it would be a help,. I hope she's a high class filly. She hasn't matured yet anything like what I believe she's going to do. We'll have to sit back now and have a long think - I would imagine she'll have a little break but we'd be thinking very seriously with this one.
