It gives me satisfaction and pleasure to win John's (Mulhern) race and J.P. (McManus) will be thrilled too, he's at the Ryder Cup now. He had a little injury in his hind leg but had been working well recently and this race was perfect for him. He was taking on maiden hurdle winners at level weights. He is more likely to go back chasing now.

Fegan makes successful return after 3 years

This is my second winner and my first was here exactly three years ago today! Melbourne Lady is the only horse I had in training during the summer but had four or five last winter and have a few young ones now. This means everything to me and she has come on very well on her last few starts. I imagine she'll go handicapping next.

Johnston at last proves best

She doesn't like being crowded and had gone up 7lbs since her first run back but we are lucky to win a race with her as she fractured a cannon bone last year. I've no plans but I'll think of something some night late!

He deserved that as he'd been knocking on the door. He has become consistent in his last few runs and wasn't always. We'll keep going for another month or so before leaving him off.

I've always wanted to run him over fences but lads were telling me to leave him hurdling as he was doing so well. He always was a good jumper at home and, while I was going to send him to the Doncaster Horses In Training Sale, I might change my mind now!. He likes to get his toe in and will go on a bit softer. He might go to Roscommon for a two mile graded chase next.
