Luimneach wins at Limerick
Luimneach for Limerick! I'm gone from Limerick 55 or 56 years now and I was born and reared in Summerville Avenue in the city, which you can see from here,. When I saw the horse's name first, I thought 'oh my god!' as there was a lot expected and this is the first step anyway.
Brookie battles to make most of opportunity
He was very far down the (ballot) list, which surprised me as he had finished second in a bumper and was third in a hurdle but fortune was on our side that it was divided,. He is a nice horse, has plenty experience and will make a nice chaser. He jumps well, that is probably as soft as he wants it and that's why we came here as we thought it wouldn't be as deep on the inside track, as other places. We'll find nice ground for him next, maybe at Leopardstown over Christmas. He is owned by a great man (Philip Rugg) who comes over every time the horse is running so it is great it worked out for him.
Guy another reserve to collect in dramatic contest
He is a homebred and had nice form in bumpers. He was getting a bit stale in bumpers so we said we'd switch to hurdles and he had schooled very well. He probably needs that soft ground,. The lads (22-member Oakroom Racing Club, from Donegal to Kerry) have had plenty success for 10 or 12 years, came to me recently when buying into him so it is great to get them a winner. He isn't good enough for novice races at this time of year so we'll see what the handicapper gives him and make a plan from there.
Action lands mares handicap in style
When she won the confined (point to point) in Carrigtwohill, we honestly thought that was her lot because she was very average,. But she just got better and better and we found out a secret about her, you must give the outside to no one. She will not jump or go in amongst horses. I said ‘Mikey, give the outside to no one’ and not too many trainers give that instruction. He started off with me, as a young lad and I’m delighted to give him a winner. He was with me until he finished school and then he went to Henry (De Bromhead). I told him he had to go somewhere. He’s in the right place and please God he goes up the ladder. That’s his first winner for me. He hasn’t had too many rides for me because every time I ring, Henry has a horse. It was just lucky he didn’t have one today. He’s well able to ride.
Red letter day for Moloney as Brandy wins with ease
Chain springs 25/1 shock on handicap debut
He is a nice horse and is in with his own company today, so had a chance,. He had ran nicely in a bumper when Derek O'Connor rode him and he said he'd win a couple of races if you up the distance and change the ground. He is still very babyish and the fact he went to the front, thanks to Gavin, was the reason he won today. Gavin felt the pace was very slow and moved him up. He is a half-brother to Golden Jewel (Ladbroke Hurdle runner-up) and I bought him as a three year old for E3,500. He is turned in and doesn't walk like one you'd put on a catwalk in the fashion show so that's the reason I got him so cheap.
King shines as Polly strikes again for Lee
That's mine and the mare's second win and my first at my local track,. She is a hard one to time but has been running well lately and has a lot of ability. To get her on her day is the main thing. She is extremely versatile ground-wise but when you get her on a going day, is capable of doing that. She made one mistake but was winging hurdles afterwards and Dan was cool as a breeze - I've never me someone cooler. She is a great mare to have, is a pleasure to train and I'm delighted for Connie (Donegan, Ballyagran, Co Limerick owner). We'll keep running her away and hopefully she'll get another day.
