Scarpeta lands claimer for McNamara and Carberry
I think the eight grand was just about the right price for him! We mightn't have won with an extra 2lb. Peterjon gave him a lovely ride, he doesn't always try his very hardest so enjoyed making the running. He is okay to jump, that's about it, so for the most part he jumped well today. To be fair there was a fair battle on at the back of the last, for a horse who made the running. It was nice to get that as we haven't been having too much craic with him so far. Somebody might claim him and if they do, he might be fun for them.
Maxxum rewards support to get off the mark
We had his two full brothers but had no luck with them and this is a lovely horse who is also owned by the Rabbitts from Galway,. We might give him one more run before we put him away. He is a lovely young horse, is a future chaser and we'll definitely give him another run, maybe two, before leaving him off.
Plains Indian gets compensation at Clonmel
It is a bit of compensation for the last day and we'll got for a 2m3f Grade B at Cork over Easter. There are also races for him at Punchestown and we'll tip away and see how he gets on. At least the handicapper can't touch him because he is was the highest rated in the race and it was a good confidence booster for him. He is a fair horse and as long as the ground isn't too quick he'll keep going for the summer. Cian is with me and is a good lad. He works hard and deserves his chance and it wasn't his fault the last day.
Big Bee Hive stings his rivals at 33/1
He was a horse I had him with a friend and was just left at home. I had promised Phidelma to get her something to ride for fun and I thought he'd be progressive and he is a good jumper. I thought, on the ground, his wind might catch him a bit and he won't go on summer ground and doesn't handle heavy. It wasn't the best race in the world but he has gone and won a handicap for Phidelma so I'm delighted. I tried to sell him to a good friend Joanne Foster, from the north of England, last year for very tiny money but she wouldn't buy him. She might buy him next winter as he might be one to go to England.
Shantou Lucky gets his first victory over fences
He ran in a hurdle race at Gowran two runs ago and he was the first horse beaten. I fancied him going there but he had a think about it, so I gave him a run over fences at Leopardstown and he really enjoyed it. Conditions were ideal and he'll run away but wouldn't want rattling fast summer ground. We'll see what way the ground holds up.
Blackbow enjoys a cruise around Clonmel
It was a nice opportunity for him and we have the Topham Trophy in our minds. It is a bit quick but we'll have a look at that or a look at something at Fairyhouse - it'll be one or the other. He got things his own way and he took his opportunity so I'm happy with him.
Mullins doubles up with Klarc Kent in Clonmel
It was a pleasant surprise as I was hoping he'd run well but didn't think he'd win. It must be very dead and tacky ground as he had the strength to gallop through it and Jody said if something came to him, he'd have galloped on again. He just kept galloping in the ground and extra two furlongs made a big difference to him. We'll probably give him a spin in a winners' bumper and he is a real winter jump horse for next season. It is Colm's (O'Connell, whose father owned Un De Sceaux) first winner in his own name. This is his first horse and Tolic, who used to ride Un De Sceaux, led him up so I'm delighted. I don't know what happened High City Roller (beaten favourite) yet but maybe with his pedigree, the ground mightn't have suited. There could be more than that because he was never going but we'll have another day.
