No Dramas for Lee aboard Mulvany winner at Gowran
It was probably his ideal conditions out there and he'll probably stay a little bit further in time,. He's a horse that's learning on the job and he seems to be improving. It's the lads' first horse so I'm delighted for them. Billy said he was a very willing partner and he really put his shoulder to the wheel, which you want out there. There is a nursery coming up in Galway for him, we won it last year with Duke Of Leggagh. Hopefully the handicapper won't go mad with him and we'll be having a go at it. I walked the track beforehand and I thought there was definitely a strip up the straight that he came up on. That was the plan from the word go.
The Euphrates steps up to win his maiden under Heffernan
Alpheratz goes one better for Carroll and Murphy
She's a very nice filly going forward, we love her,. That's her for the year, she's in the Eyrefield but it's too soon. She's a growing filly. Gary said she did it very easy, she quickened up when he wanted and might have hit the front too soon but he said he had plenty of horse there. She's just a good filly. It was a nice run the last day and to do that back-to-back is what you want. We'll leave her alone until next year and see what happens.
Rough And Tough lives up to his name under Coen
It was nice to see him doing it, he's a good little horse,. He's really strengthening into himself. Ben said that he travelled really well between the three and the two and quickened up as he liked. He said not to run him on anything but that ground, he said he really handles it well. We'll have to have a look and see what the handicapper does now. He showed yesterday that he can stay the trip and probably in time he'll get a mile-and-a-half. He's only just coming to himself, he's a different horse in the last couple of months. It took a while for him to fill into his frame, now that he has hopefully it onwards and upwards. Paddy Graffin (clerk of the course) said to me that he wasn't like a lad that ran yesterday as he was bouncing around the ring. Even though he's run a good few times he hasn't really that much mileage on the clock yet. Hopefully in time he'll grow into a nice horse. We'll have a look and see where we're going, he's after having two hard runs one day after now and you can't just keep dipping him.
Angel On Fire springs 33/1 surprise for local trainer McEnery
A few times we've nearly gave up with him but my brother is persistent!. We've all ridden this horse at home and he rides like a good horse but he just doesn't always find. He's not brilliant but it's a bit of fun coming racing. He stayed at it well today and Cian was happy with him. I'll talk to the trainer but there are very few races left so I'd say that's it. I was going to retire him but now he'll be talking me into keeping him another year!
Feathertop opens her account in impressive fashion
`That was good, she ran well here earlier in the season. We were a little bit disappointed with her at the Curragh last time but she just got a bit stuck in the ground. The form of Joseph's horse (Maxux) has worked out well as that went on to win a Group 3. We'll see how she is, I know on ratings she has a bit to find to go into stakes company but we might find something before the end of the season. There is the Finale Stakes over a mile-and-a-half (Curragh November 5th) on the last day. I'd imagine she could stay in training for next year. She's a filly that's really only getting strong now and filling out. She could be a nice one for the early part of next season as she appreciates that ground. We were running her on good ground in the middle part of the season, albeit she handled it, but she really relishes that softer going.
Seduction proves Queen as Harrington records Gowran double
That was great, she did it very nicely. It's great for young Keithen as well. She was good when winning in Roscommon during the year and she relished those conditions out there. He's given her a beautiful ride, he's jumped in behind the leaders and he's done nothing wrong. He's great value for his 10lb. He has ridden out for us for the last three summers. He was meant to get the apprentice course and it kept getting pushed out all summer, it was driving me mad but he eventually got it in August. He's a real good kid and has a lovely pair of hands on him, I'm delighted for him.
