"Great performance" from Tenor in rated race
I thought that was a great performance off 95. I thought it was a competitive race,. I knew the horse was coming right and Billy said he gave him a great feel all the way and galloped right to the line. We'll consider the Britannia but more than likely we'll stay here and go for a Listed race or Group 3. He wants a little bit of an ease and it was ideal there for him today. It was probably a shade quick the last day in Cork for him. That was a handicap, you could say, today, and he did it fair and square. I think he'll come on more as he's only coming to himself. I'm delighted with that because he showed a lot of promise last year and after the first two runs this year we were a little disappointed. His homework was always very good and he's only coming.
Lyons 1-2 in the Glencairn
We had Tennessee Heights and Elusive Heights earmarked for this all along and when the rain was coming we decided we'd go with Brendan,. Colin had the choice and with good ground we'd always go with the other horse. I said 'just don't rock the boat and we'll stay with it.'. We had every intention, if the rain came, that Elusive Heights wouldn't run. When we walked the track we said it's not that bad and we'd take our chance with him. It's worked out. You don't like beating yourself but it's a high class problem and I'm delighted for the team. He's been a great old servant for the yard and for Gary Carroll. He owes us all nothing. It'll be more making it up as we go along with him and end up down in Cork for a Listed race. When we step him up to Group 2 we are in trouble so we'll stay listed and Group 3. In a yard like ours we need that and we're lucky to have the horses in the yard so we can have runners in races like this. If the big ones don't turn up we'll pick up the pieces. The other horse ran a blinder and he will get further, which is good. He's a stakes horse and it was a great first run back so it's all positive. We'll have a look at ten furlongs with him. Mrs Patino (owner of Elusive Heights) bred the winner and won with him initially so she'll be delighted.
Grandee gets better and better
I'm delighted with him. Nick Brady, of Mill House Stud, has run three horses this year and they've all won Listed races. He owns Khukri, Brother Bear and him,. He's in the Queen's Vase but as far as I know he won't go to Ascot. We'll make a decision after this. He's in things like the Curragh Cup but I don't have him in the Leger because he didn't look like that sort of horse last year. I'm delighted with him. He actually got headed and battled back. The further he went the further he was going away. He'd love it if he could get a lead, it would make a big difference. He seemed to handle that ground fine and it was pretty quick when he ran in Navan. He's just done very well physically lately.
No splitting Tipp horses in Dublin thriller
Something similar happened to me here one day before. I didn't think he'd held on so I'll take it,. He ran well the last day and he wasn't winning out of turn.
An evening to remember for Spratt
He was entitled to win on the best of his hurdles form,. We should have a bit of fun with him and we'll see where we go now. He'll mix it and he'll definitely go back over hurdles at some point.
Mrs Harrington equals last year's Flat total
I'm delighted with him. I've been waiting for a little bit of dig in the ground,. When he won in Limerick I knew it was a bit firm for him because he only just got there and didn't come down the hill. This evening on the softer ground he pulled out and pulled out. He's very babyish still. That's 21 winners on the Flat now and that's the same as I had last year.
