Old Soul off the mark over fences
He really is a three-miler so it shows how awful that ground is. He was the only horse that absolutely handles it and while it is bad on the inside, is much better to the left. Richie (Deegan) had walked it and we agreed to go wide. He is a sound horse, that family have been good to me and it's nice to have another win. Hopefully going 3m4f might eventually be his thing as he has just one gear. Whether we get our ground again before the end of the season, I don't know. He won't run for the sake of it and we'll see what the man upstairs does with the weather.

Morgan rides first winner since returning from injury
I was struggling to get back weight-wise and had good help from physios and dietitians. Garry Cribbin is my agent and I'm back riding out with John Flavin a good bit, I'm with Henry (De Bromhead), Paul Power and ride out for Eric (Larkin, today's winning trainer) also. I have two horses and one of them is paying her way! If she didn’t perform today, she wasn’t going to be coming back next year but this might change things. I didn’t really fancy her - we ran her over hurdles about a month ago and I thought she’d run an awful lot better than she did. She pulled a shoe early and whether that affected her, I don’t know. I was very disappointed and thought she might have had enough but one of the owners Gerard Kehoe is based in America so this was a plan as he was returning for Easter. She was running regardless but I was worried about the ground. She has three gears and that’s it - she hasn’t a fourth but keeps galloping and plugs away. The schedule for the summer came out yesterday and there are long-distance chases at the likes of Wexford which could suit.

'A peach' from Power gets Mighty Jeremy home
That winner is owned by my landlord so I'll be safe for another 12 months!. It was an absolutely brilliant ride - when I saw the race conditions I spoke to John O'Mahoney, who looks after the Curraghmore gallops, and asked him which jockey to get for a 10-winner (in a year) race and he said to get Ian. He gave the horse a peach. He ran too free when he finished second in Cork the last day and the way he ran, should have finished fifth or sixth. He is very ground-dependent and wants soft to heavy so we may run out of time with him but there is a race at Tramore for him on Sunday week. I'm delighted for Paddy (Meaney) as a lot of lads wouldn't have shown as much patience with the horse, who is nine. I have 10 riding out, we are small fish but we don't want to get much bigger and want quality rather than quantity.
