Lyons claims 1-3 in Fairyhouse's opener
you'd de disappointed with him (Hyperlapse) coming off the bridle. You've to drop him down to a claimer to win and he's only taking the mickey. He's just doing the bare minimum, even at home, but he leads all the work and is a good honest horse. He has plenty of size and he's capable of going on and doing two jobs (flat and hurdling) for someone on that kind of ground. We had no problem dropping him down here to win his race and if somebody claims him for the E20,000 plus his prize-money he's made his value. Colin said he bounced off the ground, loved it, and he'll be a good fun horse for somebody.
Battle Of Jericho wins on reappearance run
he was entitled to do that off his rating (100) and it was straight-forward enough, he got a grand lead into it and quickened up well. He's been off for a while and he'll improve for that.
Lyons & Keane double up with a second-string
we liked him (Heavenly Rainbow) but that was a surprise. We had Treasuring by the same sire (Havana Gold) last year and they just show you the minimum at home and seem to come alive on the track. With everything we've seen at home we still didn't think he'd be able to beat the filly (stablemate Palabres) at the weights. It's nice as it's another one that Colin bought to breeze and sold to Vincent (Gaul). They have a nice record together and had that nice horse last year that broke his leg at Naas (Would You Believe). We sold him to Vincent with the view that he could be a cheap little Royal Ascot kind of runner but I wouldn't think so and we'll just have a look at what we have at home. He's qualified now for this series which is a huge bonus to everybody. Vincent hasn't that much to run this year so hopefully he'll pay his way and give him a bit of fun. She's (Palabres) run below par tonight so I have to speak to Sean (Davis, jockey) and see what happened there.
Lyons - 'wheels are back on' with F'house treble
Hey Pretty causes 25/1 upset under Classic hero Foley
I thought he'd run well as he was a bit unlucky the last day when he was drawn wide and was trapped wide the whole way and didn't run too bad. I was down in the chute at Tipperary when he went past me and I thought he looked at me nearly, so I put the cheekpieces on him and the ground probably made a big difference. It was very soft last time. He always showed us something so I'm delighted to get his head in front.
McConnell completes Fairyhouse double
that was great and he came out of the race in Cork very well and we thought she'd run very well. It thought she was a great price actually and couldn't believe the price she was. She's progressive, she didn't win by too much so hopefully the handicapper is not too hard on her. She's fun and the owner (Peter Commane) has been very loyal to me. We bought her as a foal and he's been patient with her as she's a big rangy filly and is only maturing now both mentally and physically. I've been telling him she's working well but it didn't really come to fruition until this year. I put her in at Navan next week and we might go there, but we'll see as there is no rush now.
O'Briens bag odds-on Fairyhouse double
she was entitled to do that on her last run and I kept it simple, got a lead on her, and she quickened up nicely. It's nice to get a win into her and hopefully she can progress from here.
