Daffern gets punters off to the perfect start
Robbie gave him a lovely ride. The plan was to make all or be handy. Hopefully he will have a big future over fences now. He is a lovely moving horse, but he wants good ground and we will take it in stages with him now. He done a schooling session with Majestic Concorde recently and he learned how to jump from him.
Danny & Mags score with Down In Neworleans
He did it well on his first start since Roscommon. I was afraid he lacked experience as he only had one run over fences. He will come back here again next month. He is a full brother Chomba Womba and Danny had his first winner over fences on him at Roscommon.
Critic cruises to easy win
He did it well, the break came at the right time for him and he loves this place. Provided he comes out of the race ok he will be back here for the big handicap on Saturday under his mandatory penalty.
Anam doesn't disappoint as Weld records treble
She is a difficult filly to ride and Pat gave her a very great ride. Pat regarded her as his most difficult ride of the week of our fancied horses. She is talented and progressive and she will go for the Listed Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary next (on Thursday, August 18th).
Tavern appreciates the step up in trip
It was not ideal he hit the front but I just wouldn't be holding him up either as he is that sort of horse at the moment. He is getting better, getting a bit of confidence and getting well in himself again. We had a lot of hardship with him over the winter as he ran well in a race at Naas but cut the front leg off himself and he was lucky to come back after that at all.
Moon shines to foil Fosters in Galway Hurdle
It was great, I didn't think he would win like that. I was confident beforehand but its Galway and I always thought he would be better over fences, but he is rated 130 over hurdles, so I said we'd give it a go.
Fabulous four-timer for fantastic Weld
We have had a great week and a good day today. Every race is tough to win and that was as hard as any. He got a magnificent ride from Pat Smullen. I'm delighted for his owner (Joseph Keeling), who has had great patience with this horse. He had a leg problem and was off for a year and a half, but thanks to my team we brought him back and thanks to Pat Smullen for a great ride.
Memorable day for Mags as Cairdin takes the last
That's my first double as a trainer and it's lovely to have it here. We have no plans for him now, but he will probably go novice hurdling but I'll have to discuss it with his owners. He is bred to stay and will get two and a half miles in time. He should have no trouble in getting further.
