Lizlucky provides owner/breeder with welcome tonic
It was her first time running on that type of ground and she hasn't been the most straightforward to train and with her age, hasn't ran many times. The girls at home have done a great job with her and have kept her muscles right. Phillip said she ran the whole way to the line and we'll keep her in for the winter, but won't run on really heavy ground. I'd like to run her in a nice mares' handicap from a light weight and we'll keep her to hurdles this season. A race like the mares' handicap hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival is a possibility. I'm delighted for Leo (McCormack) and you could not get a better owner in the yard. He hasn't been feeling well lately and barely got here today so that'll make him up. I couldn't be happier for him.
Halibut eats up rivals despite jumping errors
He is a nice horse and it is great to get that win under his belt. It was an indifferent round of jumping and he has a lot to learn but fingers crossed he can improve. The engine is there but we have to put a few pieces together yet. There was a concern about the ground as it was different to Punchestown in April and May but he proved his versatility. With that round of jumping, I'd say we will definitely be thinking about a smaller rather than bigger race next - we have a bit of work to do.
Hey Johnny earns Cheltenham ticket
He went off the boil last year and was fresh and well from the run at Punchestown, when I didn't dream he'd finish third. I thought he'd need the run and he did. Charlie was good on him, was very cool, as he is. He didn't say anything about the ground today and I'd say the ground doesn't matter to him and two miles suits at the moment. The owner (Joe Fitzpatrick) wants to have a runner at Cheltenham in November and there's a novice handicap there, if he fits into it.
Robinstown keeps up the good work for Cian Collins
He is a tough horse who just gallops all day and could be one for a Pertemps Qualifier at Punchestown next month. Jordan was very good on him. I had him point to pointing and then Gordon (Elliott) had him so it is great to get him back and to win first time out. I'm delighted with how the horses are running and I have about 12 horses to run during the winter.
Whosgotyanow leaves punters in a Daze
I didn't see that coming but Henry's mare underperformed as it was her first run of the year and probably needed it. We, on the other hand, had race-fitness on our side and were going all summer. We were afraid of the ground as all her form is on good ground and hence we put the tongue-tie on as she had her palate operated on before. Surprisingly Cian said she loved the ground. We'll go for a handicap chase now or else look for blacktype in mares' chases. Ronan (Tynan, owner) is a breeder at the end of the day and wants these mares for breeding.
Capture The Drama records heart-warming win at 14
He is magic. At his age he should be retired with all the racing he has done, but he has never put a lame step since the day I bought him. At home you'd swear he never saw the gallop and he is mad - you'd get up on him and only hope to stay on! I rode him up to two years ago and during all his wins in 2016 and '17, he keeps you fit and I lost five stone in five months on him. It was super and I'm delighted and I don't know what to do with him although he is in at Thurles next Thursday. I bought him as a four-year-old for €1,200 and he was so difficult for the first two years. Another man would have said bye bye to him but I kept at him, kept him quiet and out of the blue one day he won at 100/1.
