Blinkers help Ruler Of All live up to his name
I think the blinkers might have helped him concentrate a bit better. We were a little bit disappointed that he got beaten a few times but he is a lovely big horse and he'll go for a novice hurdle now.
Louisville Lip enjoys hurdling challenge
I rate this horse very highly . I really love him. Danny (Grant) said we shouldn't have been running him on the flat last year as he is such a big horse. He schooled well but you never know until they get to the track to run over hurdles. He blew up today but he still won. He'll go for the Grade 1 (Spring Juvenile Hurdle) at Leopardstown on Hennessy Day (Sunday February 6th).
Mullins finally gets there on Marlay Park
I'm absolutely delighted, that's a special win. Barry (Connell, who was present) has always been very good to us. I'm not sure what we'll do with the horse now but he'll continue over hurdles anyway. He was a bit unlucky not to win over jumps before now.
2 up for Casey on Concrete And Clay
He deserved that. He's an honest old devil and he always tries his best. He's got more metal in his front legs than the six million dollar man! He'll go for something similar now.
Follow The Plan back to his best
I wasn't expecting that but sure that makes it all the sweeter. The ground wouldn't have really suited him and maybe it was just that some of the fancied horses didn't run up to form. He had leg trouble in the past and he came back from Cheltenham (in 2009) a wreck. We gave him plenty of time off after that and he got a lovely ride from Paddy there. He was a bit sticky at a few fences over on the far side but he came home like a train. We were held up badly during the cold snap and he probably came on from his last run.
For Bill the best of the mares
Donie (Sheehan the owner, 84yo) was faster than the mare to book Carberry . he had him booked nearly as soon as Davy (Russell, got a fall off Mossbank in the previous race) had hit the ground!. When you build this mare up you can nearly run her every fortnight and turn her out in between. I knew she was right coming here today and the run the last day turned her inside out. There is a race for her at Limerick on the 13th of March and that would be the aim. Ideally though I'd like to give her a run in two or three weeks time before that.
Whyso shows that age is just a number
He is really enjoying himself. We had him started early and got a great pre-season into him but then the weather really set us back.
