Maher off the mark on Flood's Peace N' Milan
it's nice to get a winner at a big meeting like this and she loves that ground. We were searching for a place to find ground deep enough. She's coped with it everywhere she's gone and I dropped her back to two-and-a-half today and it worked out lovely. Cian is with us about two-and-a-half months. He's from Monasterevin and that's his first winner in Ireland but he had two winners in Britain for Evan Williams. I liked the way he rode straight away and he listens and is intelligent. On the young horses we have schooling at home, they all jump well for him. I'm delighted to have him, he's a good young lad to have in the yard and he definitely did nothing wrong there. Hopefully it's the first of many for him.
Galloping Gordon wins Thyestes Chase at Gowran
it's brilliant and it's nice to win it. I think we've won nearly all the big staying chases in Ireland now. It was his first run in handicap, so it was a bit of a worry, but it's worked out great. He's a big galloper but he's a bit of a character at home and doesn't do anything too fancy. He just loves that soft ground and jumped and galloped them into the ground. The problem in his beginners chases is that he was having to do all his own donkey work and he's lairy in front whereas today we had something to aim at and it worked out great. He jumped fences like they were on fire at Punchestown the last day!. in fairness to the farmers (Doyles in Co Wexford) they recommended him to us and it's great for Jack, for me and for Gigginstown and for the horse. Jack was brilliant again and gave him a great ride.
Mullins completes Gowran double
he (Montalbano) learned a bit from his previous experience and I thought David got a fantastic jump out of him at the last. I think it was the difference between winning and losing. I was surprised how well he handled that really heavy ground and he's a horse that's improving. David said he was fantastic at the second last. I wasn't down there but I was right at the last and I thought he was very very clever and very good. He'll be better as he gets drier ground in the spring.
Elliott completes Gowran double in closing bumper
she has to be a good filly as that's only her second piece of work. I initially had nothing to run in the race, and wanted to have a runner obviously. She did one bit of work at home and that's only her second ever bit of work. She's never been on grass and could be anything because she has nothing done. There is a lot of improvement in her and she's a filly for next year and loved the ground.
