One small step for Freedom
Steps To Freedom couldn't do any more than that - he was super and jumped really well. He'll probably head to Tipperary for a novice hurdle on Sunday week next if the ground isn't too soft. The ground today was perfect for him and the faster they'll go in races, the better he'll be. We'll play it by ear but we might see how he gets on with soft ground eventually, as he is a stronger horse now.
Elliott sticks to Plan A
De Bromhead sizing up Cheltenham raid
I'm delighted with that, he was great. He was impressive at Killarney but we wanted to see if he could step up today, and he did. They went a really good gallop today but he picked up and seemed to stay well. Andrew gave him a great ride and it's great to have him back. We might send him over to Cheltenham in mid-October for a novice hurdle over 2m5f now.
Lynch keeps the faith with Fath
Clonsilla Fath's form was there, with his runs at The Curragh and Galway, but his is a surprising horse and seems to be getting better. Where he goes now I don't know but he wants good ground.
Seaside gets his day in the sun
Another Andrew Lynch winner at Fairyhouse!
we were finding it hard for a long time with this fella - we ran him in a few chases but he didn't jump well. He as well handicapped over hurldes so we decided to give this a shot. His owners (Chris Jones Jnr) are lovely people to train for and I'm delighted to train a winner for them. Lapse Of Reason is in again at Navan on Saturday and might run.
Mangan and Taaffe win bumper
I'm delighted for his owner Yana Melnikova, who is the longterm girlfriend of Dr Michael Smurfit, and it's good to be back amongst the winners again myself! The horses are staring to fire again thank god. We always liked Alexandr Nevsky and he is a well related horse. We took him out a few times recently as the ground was too soft - he is a good ground horse. If the ground stays good he might go hurdling or he could wait until the spring. He had a nice debut run at Sligo and the form has worked out well. As a national hunt four year old, it is nice to see him quickening up like that.
