Well-bred Jazz wins easily under Corbett
We had to have patience with her and she ran a good race at Clonmel last year when she was third and we thought we were on the way this year but she took a bit of getting going. She is a nice filly and is well bred and is a half-sister to Jazz Messenger and is related to Fitzhenry. Getting her to win was the main job and today was a big day!
Viking rules for Brouder & Byrnes
He rode him closer to the pace today and he stays, and for a four-year-old it is unreal the way he stays. He'll keep going and might go for a hurdle race at Galway. He's a very slow horse to work and I don't think he's fast enough to win on the flat as all he does is stay and he loves top of the ground. I bought him at Newmarket last year and couldn't get a buyer for him and he's for sale again now.
Connections Feeling The Love once more for Flyer family
she is very well bred but has had a lot of relations that never did anything. We've had a lot of the family and they were disappointing but, anyway, it's nice to see her coming good and winning. She ran a grand race in Roscommon and she came home well and it was nice to see her pulling out well today. She goes on the quick ground and hopefully we'll get another run or two into her before the ground changes, although we might find somewhere quieter than Galway.
Gibney's Game secures first Killarney success
I was disappointed with him in Bellewstown the last day, as I thought he’d be there or thereabouts. Anyway, we decided to change the tactics today and it worked. It’s lovely to come down here and win a pot like that and it’s my first winner down here. I’ve had a heap of seconds, but never seemed to be able to get the head in front. He’s entered in the Galway Hurdle. It’s unlikely he’ll get into it, but if by some miracle he did he would definitely have a go.
The Last Marju another for Wicklow Bloodstock Ltd
I'm delighted with that. He had a good start in Roscommon, he was just unfortunate to miss the first one down the back. They just seemed to have got their wires crossed in Roscommon but stepped up from there. Denis gave him a grand ride, and hopefully he'll keep going the right way for us. He's finding it a bit easier over fences than he did over hurdles - the smaller fields suit him. He likes to bowl along up there and do his own thing. When the other horse came to him he put his head down and battled on. Nick (Peacock of owners Wicklow Bloodstock Ltd), unfortunately, couldn’t make it here but that's his third winner of the week (after the Willie Mullins-trained pair Wicklow Brave and Easy Game), and it's nice that this fellow didn’t let the side down, coming from a different camp. We'll have a look at Galway for him.
Not For You completes 35/1 double for Byrnes
He deserved that. He was unlucky here a few times and actually always ran well here. Davy (Russell) was very unlucky here once when he was carried out and he made one bad mistake the last day which put him out of the race. He'll tip away in that grade. There's nothing between them and he might get another one.
Meticulous impresses on debut
I'm very pleased with him. He'd been working nicely and is a very well-bred horse, by Fame and Glory out of Refinement. He won well. I'd say he'd have no trouble winning a Flat race and I'd say he will probably go hurdling at some stage. We might look for a winners bumper for him now maybe, and we'll go from there.
