With Love wins with aplomb
We expected her to do it but you have to come and do it and she had to beat two winners. Seamie said it was never in doubt. She wouldn't show a whole lot at home but he thinks she's fairly good. She's never been in front, she's lazy at home and gets a lead every day. She's not one that will go out and lead the string, you wouldn't know that she's there. Seamie said sometimes they are the ones you want. She was good today and Seamie said she won't show (her ability) until she goes up in level so hopefully we can go up a level now. They are a couple of stakes races over seven coming up but I stay out of that and the lads will decide that. We wanted to see today how the seven would go and if she didn't win we were going back for a maiden. There is the Silver Flash here in July but I'm not one to jump the gun. We can actually think of that now.
Heffernan completes quick double on Royal Tribute
Deserved second success for Morning Approach
I'm delighted for the lads. I played football with Richie (Dunne), I carried him for a long time on the pitch!. Eddie (McGarry) played football for Carlow and Annie (O'Rourke), the other part owner, is leading her up. She worked for John McLoughlin years ago and works in Naas hospital. She rides her when she's off. She's a good old mare, she won first time out as two-year-old and then last year she ran well in handicaps. She's just stronger this year and she's held her own every time this year. I'm delighted for the lads to come to a nice track, she ran a cracker on Guineas weekend at the Curragh and has run equally as well today. We'll keep her in that grade over a mile or a mile-and-one. She needs a good galloping track as she's a big filly.
James Ryan shines on McCourt's Eastern Wind
She's very gutsy. I said to James to make as much use of her as he could, to give her a little breather at the end of the back straight and then just keep stretching away. He gave her a good ride,. She has to be in front, she's a funny filly, if she's in behind she's not that happy. She loves being out in front and battles away. The plan is to go to the Curragh for a €50,000 mile handicap. We might as well have a go at it. James is a great young man and it's great to have him. If he gets the chance he'll do very well. He can do 8-4, he's fairly determined and is looking after his weight.
McConnell's Sile wins under a dream ride
I'm delighted for Peter (Commane), he's been a very lucky owner for me, he's had three Sheilas and they've all won now. We were scratching our heads over whether we'd get this girl to win. She has the ability but she's a lady and likes to do things her own way. She hit the line well there and we're delighted. She probably came on from the run the last day and Dylan was really good on her, he gave her a peach of a ride.
Park proves tough in tight finish
Loughisle Lady a first winner for Steven Cahill
She's very well bred. She was disappointing last year and we thought she was better than that. Maybe coming back to the Flat and good ground has helped her. It's great to give Steven a winner, he's a real good hardy rider and rides anything at home. He's a big help to us in the yard. It's great to get a winner for the Slatterys as well, they are relatively new owners to us. Hopefully this mare will continue to live up to her pedigree now.
