Browne McMonagle partners first winner for O'Brien on Military
He was working like a lovely colt. We knew that was probably plenty short for him but it was to get him out and get him started. He will come forward lovely from that. You'd be very happy with him. He could maybe go to the (Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc) Lagardere. We knew he was a six/seven furlong type horse and he will be probably be a miler next year. We just needed to get him started. Dylan said he was very green, but he would have learned a lot there today.

Kendall Roy makes his mark on nursery debut
The ground ended up coming up soft enough for him. If it had been on the good side of yielding I probably wouldn't have run him. The tongue-tie seemed to help. He just didn't get home the last few times, but he never sounds like he does anything with his wind. I said I'd throw it on and it seemed to work a treat. Chris was lovely and positive on him and we're delighted. There is a race in Down Royal for him and one in Navan. Chris said I could even step up to six so maybe I have even more options.
Basilah Bear forges home for McAteer
She deserved that, she bumped into a handicap blip in Killarney,. I think she's going to be a good filly, she probably has more gears than we're giving her credit for. I'd say she'll enjoy a bit better ground. She'll come back for the fillies' handicap at Leopardstown late next month and then we'll put her away after that. She was well bought, Amy bought her and she only cost €14,000. It's a bit of compensation for the other race. She found plenty and she's very genuine.
Lee doubles up aboard Bright Stripes
I hate an odds-on favourite because you are a sitting duck, you are there to be shot at. He did it smoothly enough. They came out a bit and he had to come up the rail. He did it well, got to the front and probably thought he had done enough. He got through that ground so he seems fairly versatile, but he's a lovely moving horse. He did everything he needed to do today and we're happy enough. We've always liked him and I think he was unlucky in the Ballyhane, he was slowly away and was the best of the finishers. It looked like he would get seven then and he surely did. He's in the final (of the auction series) here and we'll also probably look at the Killavullan (at Leopardstown).
Bluedrum up and running for Harrington
We're very happy with her. She's a nice filly. She came into us at the end of July, she was in pre-training with Nicky Stokes who did a great job with her. She was a big backward filly and everything she's done with us she's been very good. It's lovely for the owner/breeder, Francis Jennings, it's a pity he didn't have a double as he was second in the first race. We had the dam, Drumfad Bay, this is only the second produce. Her half-sister by Lope De Vega is in Fairyhouse (Sales) next week, so that's very good timing. We've a few of these Blue Points, they showed a lot early in the season but they grew on us. They are very nice and we have a few of them to come out. She might appear again, Shane (Foley) said she was not in love with that ground at all and we'll see what the weather does. It would be nice to pick up a bit of black-type with her and you'd maybe look at the Staffordstown (Stud Stakes at Curragh) with her. That would be a nice stepping stone.
