Katie again shows her liking for Thurles
She didn't travel as well on the ground the last day but Brian (Hayes) said he never had to get after her at all today. She's had two quick runs in a fortnight and might run at Limerick in the Dawn Run Chase over two and a half miles on St Patrick's weekend.
Navan feature next for Sumos Novios
That was a nice performance but he has been very difficult to train and this is only his fifth ever run. He's hard to keep condition on and we have to train him on his own as he gets too lit up with other horses. For a horse that is very big and 17 hands, he is fierce athletic and is able to shorten and he'll go for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Handicap Chase at Navan (March 15) next. My Murphy was my last winner, apart from point to points, in that race last year.
Bookies Rocked by easy Mahon winner
Coming here today I'd have been disappointed if he didn't show a return to some form and Tom Quinn (owner) had a nice few quid on him at 33's. I'm a dreamer but he is a horse that I've held in the same regard as Prince Of Tara who won the Troytown - he gallops all day and jumps like a buck. It's a long way to get to a Troytown but I can see this lad progressing along those lines. Ger (Fox) is originally from near me and reminds me a bit of Barry Geraghty when Barry was starting off. I'm not saying he's as good but he rides well and comes to me once a week to ride out and school.
Lock impresses on hurdling debut
Hayes doubles up with Chosen one
I imagine he'll have one more run before being left off and he's a chaser in the making.
Sam may play it again at Punchestown
We've been a long time waiting for that and will now probably run at Punchestown on Wednesday. He's entered there in a 0-109 over 2m6f.
Luke makes all for easy bumper win
He has missed out on the winners' enclosure twice as he should have been at least placed on his debut in a point to point and then definitely should have won on his second run when his jockey went the wrong side of a bollard in the closing stages. Neighbours of mine had him when he won a schooling bumper on the bridle at Fairyhouse and when I saw that, persuaded them to put him into training for a bumper. He is now for sale.
