Stormy Oscar wins Tramore opener
Danny took the bulls by the horns today and that final 100 yards felt like a long time! Stormy Oscar is a genuine little devil though!. He looked like he was going to be a right horse early in his bumper days and would be a lovely horse for England, around those tight little tracks.
Mangans edge ahead in Family Stakes
he ran a great race at Listowel when the ground was much worse that today and he's in at Fairyhouse and Limerick at the weekend but Jane said he just got away on the going there so we'll see whether or not to run him. If it was any heavier he wouldn't be running. won't run if its too heavy but before the handicapper gets him. He's a nice fun horse and we're using a tongue tie recently which seems to be working well.
Ordinary Man at his best
it wasn't really the plan to make the running but I told Shay to stay wide as the ground was much better there. He travelled so much sweeter today than he did at Listowel but in fairness he ran quite well at Listowel considering the conditions; better ground is really the key to him. He's in again on Sunday at Limerick in a conditions chase and handicap hurdle but the way he won today, we'll have to go for the handicap hurdle!
Barry doubles up on Days Ahead
Tramore has been a lucky place for me and that was badly wanted. We have had a good few placed horses but we're just finding it hard to get one over the line recently. Days Ahead is still a bit green jumping-wise but all-in-all he did it well. He was a good juvenile hurdler earlier in his career but has had his wind done since then; he is still well handicapped on the Flat.
Third family success at Tramore
Dad is at home in bed with the flu so this should help him feel better! . Our Girl Lucy travelled great and I kept having to take her back a bit. She jumps great and she just got underneath the last a bit. She is tough and very consistent.
Chase win for multiple points winner
Kilmurry Lad has had some small problems but we've got him back. We took our time with him and he's been in since last April. I was just a bit worried about the ground as he'd like it a bit better. He's entered again at Punchestown in an amateur handicap chase so if he goes there Mikey will be able to ride him again.
Tramore bumper win for Doyle
Tabac Brun has a nice pedigree and is a half brother to seven or eight winners. He is a handy enough horse and we decided to run him in a Bumper to sweeten him up. Lisa (O'Neill) has plenty of experience in the Fegentri Series in the last few years and has ridden plenty of winners abroad; she is excellent value for her 7lbs claim.
