Choice makes all to take Limerick opener
Whatever she does over hurdles will be a bonus as she will be a better chaser. Hopefully we will get some good weather as I think she is a summer mare and will be better on better ground.
Clarach on course for Galway Hurdle bid
Since she won the Mares Hurdle at Galway last year we've had nothing else on our mind other that going back there for the Galway Hurdle this year. I hope the handicapper wont be too hard on her for that. She is a very honest mare who finds plenty without being asked too much. I'm really looking forward to Galway and she loves fast ground. All my life I have been waiting to train one for the Galway Hurdle and we are all set now. With her handicap mark and the experience she has I think she must have a great chance. I may also run her in the amateur race on the Monday there but we will see about that.
First makes a big Impression
He's come back to form, and ran well the last day. I was not expecting him to be 20/1, and I had a small bet. He's a horse that's had a few problems all year, and hopefully we'll aim now at a 0-116 two and a half miles handicap hurdle at Galway. He's bred to be a three miler from the family of Florida Pearl, and whatever he does as a hurdler he'll be twice as good a chaser.
Double for Ruby as he scores aboard Devil's
He jumped well and travelled well. Barry (winning owner Barry Connell) likes Galway so he will probably go back there now (finished second in a hurdle there last year). He is a better horse on better ground.
Eighty shows his ability over fences
He learned from the experience at Clonmel where he came up against a very good mare (Dazzling Susie). I always knew he would be a better chaser than hurdler and he is a super leaper.
Gale blows rivals away in Plate Trial
It's great for the lads involved (Badgers Syndicate) from Kerry. They've had success with me before and deserve it. She was very good.
Magic first win for Foley
She is a three-parts sister to Kicking King. Obviously with her pedigree we were hoping she would be good. My father Michael Hickey from Sunnyhill Stud bred her and we expected her to run well today.
Izabelle takes the last for Mangan & Burke
Jane (his daughter Jane Mangan) is riding in Sweden on Tuesday and she went today. Only for that she would have rode her. It is an Arab race and she is hoping to go on to Abu Dhabi in November.
