Breaken impressive on Irish debut
He just wasn't right for me all season but I felt with his size and scope, and I have him long enough, that I wanted to get him out and running and maybe go chasing next season with him. It's a pity to have one like him at this stage of the season but it's nice to have one like that at any stage of the year. Paul said he was a passenger for two and a quarter miles, in a two mile race as he couldn't pull him, both on the way to the start and after the race. He was very free and I wouldn't want to go flat racing with him. He has a huge engine and I'll look to Fairyhouse or Punchestown next and going 2m4f will be no bother to him.
Max proves tough in rated hurdle
He had a disappointing run the last day in Cheltenham when we thought he'd run a bit better but he jumped well today and Rachael gave him a lovely ride,. He could go on for a Graded race at Fairyhouse next as we have nothing to lose and see how we go.
Moon makes all to bounce back
That's how she likes it (racing from the front) and that's how she won at Naas. She just couldn't do it at Cheltenham and got hassled and we just have to pick and choose where we go,. She met the last two hurdles on a no-stride but lost no momentum and Paddy was good as he sat quiet and didn't try and make her go and jump it and she fiddled out over it. She is in over 2m4f at Fairyhouse in the mares' novice hurdle and we might go there if the ground is good, she likes good ground. She has won three now and we need black-type which is the next most urgent thing.
Veneziano Springs back to winning ways
I was kind of expecting that as I thought he was a crazy price at 12/1 this morning. I didn't back him because I don't back horses, unfortunately today, but over my career I'd be better off!. He works really well at home and has a bit of class about him but always finds a way to get beaten. He is a good actioned horse with plenty speed and I always felt he was a better horse than this class. We'll mix and match between fenced and hurdles now.
Saint superior in Grade 3 feature
Burrows Saint's jumping won it for him and Robin Des Foret hasn't got his confidence back yet. It was a good run from both of them and we will stay at three miles or even go further with Burrows Saint,. If he doesn't get into the Irish National I am happy to wait for next year. The way he galloped and jumped there, we could do that. Ultimately he will want a trip but the Ryanair Chase (2m4f) at Fairyhouse wouldn't be out of bounds either and he jumps well enough to go. If the ground came up soft who knows what might happen.
Chosen just prevails in handicap thriller
I was a bit worried and it was too close for comfort but we came out the right end of it,. He deserved it after his last two runs and it was a very nice pot. I'll discuss things with Dinny (son and assistant) and his owner Mary O'Donnell before making plans.
