Invincible Spirit colt Magna Grecia impresses on debut
You'd be delighted with that, he's a lovely horse,. He was just ready to start today. He's a possible for the Killavullan or something like that. He's a big powerful strong horse. I don't think you could ask him to do more than that, he was green but when he got straightened up he found plenty.
Fillies Mile could be next for Naas scorer Hermosa
She's a lovely filly and she's coming with every run,. She's a lovely laid back filly and is learning with every run. I think she'll go for the Fillies Mile. She's crying out to go up to a mile.
3 from 3 at Naas for O'Brien and Moore at odds of 46/1
He's a lovely straight forward uncomplicated horse. He's a brother to Capri and he stays very well,. We weren't sure what was going to happen but when Seamus jumped to make the running and then Kevin joined him there was always going to be lots of pace and it was a proper run two-mile race. He's a horse that stays very well. He stays forever and will get much further than two miles. He's Kew Gardens' work companion and that will determine a lot of his time. Ana rides him every day and I don't have much to do with him. Ana is more or less training him.
Foran Final now on Lebanon's agenda
I thought they had her a few times. The visor seems to help as she's quite lazy,. She hasn't run a bad race all year and I think in all her runs she's got us a cheque. The last day in Listowel the visor really worked but over a mile on the soft ground there she ran out of gas a little. We thought she had a good chance today coming back to the six on nicer ground. She's done well and she might as well go for the final now. She'll be sold and replaced with a yearling I'd imagine. She's been lucky. She'll be hard to place now and she'll probably be better off heading abroad.
More Irish joy for Burke as Hayes completes Naas double
That's a relief. When a team like Cheveley Park comes in you want to do well for them and things just haven't dropped for this horse. We probably jarred him up at Ascot running him on the very fast ground and the summer just hasn't gone our way. Chris said he pinged the gates but he's just gone to drop himself out and Chris thought he was in trouble for most of the way. He thought he'd bring him wide and have one long run at it. It's worked perfectly and he's given him a very good ride. It's his first ride for me but he's a lad that I've followed for a long time and he's a good, strong, aggressive rider from what I can see. You want the guys who listen to you and try and follow your plan as best they can. Chris has done that and I'm very happy. I'll have to speak to Chris Richardson and the team now. The only race now for him is the Ascot Sprint and if that came up with a bit cut in the ground we have nothing to lose by having a go at that. I'd say he'll go to stud at the end of the season. He was a very good two-year-old last year and he's shown he's still got some ability now. I'm sure he'll do very well at stud and he'll be a very popular commercial little horse.
Big win for Grogan and Slattery in the Joe McGrath
With those sprint races you could run them ten times and get a different result but she settled very well today,. I can't believe it. I didn't think she'd do it like that. We rode her out this morning and that's the first time we've ever done it. She's travelled well and she done it well, he said he didn't even hit her. I don't think there is anything left for her now but this is a nice contest to win. We'll probably cover her in the spring and then probably get four months out of her next year. We've done what we've set out to do. She's the only one I have in training at the moment. We only train what we can't sell. We had her in Goffs as a yearling and she got a knock about three weeks before the sale so that's the only reason I'm training her. She'll make a nice broodmare now.
4 for O'Brien at Naas topped off by Japan in the Beresford
He was very green the first day and won nicely the next day. We thought he would come forward again from this and he probably will. You couldn't be happier. He followed the pace when the other two were going along. I thought he'd come forward again from today, he's a big hardy horse, so he could be the type of horse for the Racing Post (the Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster on October 27th). He travelled well and done everything right so you'd have to be delighted with him really. The second did nothing wrong and ran a lovely race too. There were no prisoners taken and it was an honest straight-forward race.
Lyons 1-2 in Remembering Nick Columb race
It's nice to get off the cold list in a race named after Nick,. He had a horse with me this year, California Daddy, and it's unfortunate that he died. It's been a frustrating month. Horses haven't been running bad but they've been running their races and just being chinned. It's what you've to get used to over here when you're taking on who we're taking on. One of them had to be second and the other wins but it's nice to get back in the winners enclosure and it's very nice that Mark Richards (friend and colleague of Nick Columb) is over here to present the trophy. Well done to Dermot Cantillon for naming the race after him. It's a lovely idea with the sales week that is on and everything, a lovely gesture. I'm just delighted as we knew Nick. As I said it was the first year he had a horse with us and unfortunately he passed away. As they say some of these things are written in the stars.
