Tikkanen Express too strong for Army
We've always thought the world of him as he works like a good horse at home but as you can see (led to post), he isn't straightforward. Phillip has done an unbelievable job with him and once he is on his back, he switches off. He's not easy though and gets wound up and is highly strung. Because of that, I'll keep him away from the Listowel festival and give him an entry in a handicap hurdle next.
G'way H'dle top-weight returns with a win
we had toyed with the idea of going chasing with him but Willie spotted the race. He had such a tough task in the Galway Hurdle - top weight in it was always going to be hard, so it was nice to find a race for him to get his head back in front. He does handle good ground - his form wasn’t great last winter but he is stronger now and maybe he’ll handle it but I’d imagine unless we find another suitable hurdle race, he could go chasing.
Magnetic Force shows his power
He likes it here and I got one of the better jockeys for the race. Brien came and rode him yesterday and got a feel for him as he can be quirky. Today's ground was absolutely perfect for him and he'll keep on the go as long as he gets his ground.
Black Warrior brings up Enright's double
Butler returns from injury with a winner
it was an eventful race and it shows how much luck you need and it was also Shane’s (Butler) first ride back from injury and I’m delighted for him. She’s a big mare and hopefully she’ll keep improving for next year.
Definite Income pays out again
She is very consistent and stays all day. She likes that ground and I'm hoping for an extended summer! There's a three mile handicap at Clonmel for her in a week.
Dr Mikey in charge at Cork
He is a very highly strung horse and seemingly so was his dam but we've always thought he was a good horse. We've had to nurse him along and have waited a long time with him but hopefully he has a future. The ground was too soft for him the last day and we'll look for a small little hurdle for him next. We'll look for a galloping track on suitable ground before the winter comes.
